New white paper: "A BDO Legal Guide to the AI Act"
On 12 July 2024, the time had come: the AI Act, the world's first law to regulate artificial intelligence, was published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will come into force - at least formally - on 1 August 2024. As is usual with European legislation, the Act will apply in stages.
The introduction of the AI Act is intended to ensure that Europeans can unconditionally trust the numerous possibilities that AI can bring with it. In addition, the AI Act is intended to help promote innovation in relation to AI and limit restrictions on its development.
But who exactly is affected by the new regulation? What obligations does it entail for both users and developers? And what steps need to be taken by when?
